Handling Social Security Disability Claims for Our Vermont Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury Clients
Kim Daniels, Legal Assistant/Paralegal

In my interview at BFS back in 2004, it was clear to me that the firm had one top priority – their clients. That emphasis has never changed and is the consistent theme at our meetings and conversations.

I work with Attorney Kelly Massicotte to assist clients who are scheduled for hearings in their Social Security disability claims. I also work on special projects for Attorney Massicotte and Attorney Heidi Groff in their workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.

Before joining BFS, I had no experience in law, but I did have a lot of experience with people. I started working at the age of eight in my father’s general store, and have held a variety of positions since, most of which involved working with people with disabilities. Later, I was a guidance counselor at a high school and a counselor at a hospital. I decided I needed a change and moved from Ohio to Vermont in 2004. This was not a huge move for me as I am originally from the Keene, New Hampshire area, with many relatives in Vermont. I felt I was home again.

The type of work I perform at BFS is quite different from my former occupations, but my focus on taking care of clients has never changed. I am grateful to work at a firm where attorneys and staff all put the clients first.

In my free time, you’ll find me hiking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, spending time with family and friends, and gardening.
